Tune-up packages make it easy for you get the recommended annual or periodic maintenance your bike needs and ensures a qualified mechanic is able to dedicate the proper time to your trusty ride.
Our tune-up packages are into three levels called "regular", "major" and "overhaul" based on whether the mechanic is adjusting and fine tuning systems, or opening them right up and replacing consummable parts like bearings/grease, cables and housing.
Price points are also adjusted for Dutch omafiets and North American bicycle types and the time involved for maintenance of different braking and gearing systems.
The differences and breakdowns can be found below.
A regular tuneup (for most road, hybrid, mountain bikes etc.. with typical braking systems). This "stop and go" tune up makes sure your bike is rolling smoothly, your wheels' rims are properly aligned after a year of vibration on the road and that the brakes are stopping nicely.
- Front and rear hub adjustments
- Front and rear wheel truing (basic, does not include spoke replacement)
- Front and rear brake adjustments
- Chain lube, seat post, handlebar, air, stem adjustment/inspection
A regular "Dutch" tuneup (for omafiets/opafiets, most North American cruisers and other single speed bikes with simpler braking system).
- Front and rear hub adjustments (including coaster brake)
- Front and rear wheel truing (basic, does not include spoke replacement)
- Chain case removal and installation (and/or accessory adjustments/inspection like racks, fenders, etc..)
- Chain lube, seat post, handlebar, air, stem adjustment/inspection
A major tuneup (for most road, hybrid, mountain bikes etc.. with typical brake and gearing systems or the annual maintenance for someone who rides often or through the winter).
- Front and rear hub adjustments (includes freewheel/cassette removal)
- Front and rear wheel truing (basic, does not include spoke replacement)
- Front and rear multi-gear system adjustments (using existing components)
- Chain lube, seat post, handlebar, air, stem adjustment/inspection
- Cleaning
A major "Dutch" tuneup (for omafiets/opafiets, most North American cruisers and other single speed bikes with simpler braking system). Instead of adjusting finnicky multi-gear systems, time is dedicated to overhauling critical moving parts in the front and rear hub that need to be cleaned and replaced periodicially.
- Front hub overhaul
- Rear coaster brake and hub overhaul
- Front and rear wheel truing (basic, does not include spoke replacement)
- Headset adjustment, accessory adjustments
- Chain lube, seat post, handlebar, air, stem adjustment/inspection
- Cleaning
Full overhaul includes the above but goes much further... this is your periodic "deep clean" maintenance involving the critical moving parts for most road, hybrid, mountain bikes etc.. with typical cable/housing brake and derailleur-based gearing systems. It may also be the annual maintenance needed for someone who rides often or through the winter! Talk to us and we'll point you in the right direction.
"Dutch" overhaul (for omafiets/opafiets, most North American cruisers with more complex braking and/or multi-gear systems). These tuneups include all of the above and reflect the costs/skills involved in opening up and overhauling complex internal gear systems and rollerbrake systems often scene on higher-end Dutch bikes. Good news though: this type of maintenance tends to be needed far less often than other multi-gear or braking systems often seen in North America and the systems tend to work for more years/decades afterward, maintenance free.
