When you've repaired thousands of bicycles that saw decades of daily use, you start to take note of components that rarely if ever need replacing.
These are one of those components. We call them the shark teeth. They won't draw blood if you smack your shin on them, but they still do a great job of gripping the bottom of your clogs.
